It has a big impact on entrepreneurial and tech scene here, because a lot of learning shared, so that’s good for entire ecosystem and people here. And secondly a topic is not only technology and IT, IT-offshoring, but also startups and how to build startup ecosystem, so I think it really helps. And on top of that – it’s a great place to meet people, new people.

I think this kind of events are actually quite important for cities and countries, bringing together open-minded people with new ideas, who are thinking, you know, around traditional pattern, and trying to bring some new to city. Trigger a new thinking, and business. And this morning your major was here, so this is shows that politicians are interested in that. And I think this is like a good sign. I wish we had more from that!

  • Marco Delaini
    General Manager at Fanuc Russia

It’s my first time in Odessa. I use to be many times in Ukraine – Kiev, Vinnitsa and other cities, but it’s my first time in Odessa. And I’ve been really impressed with qualification of the people, professionalism of the people. This is opportunity now, occasionally this summit, I’ve started meeting people on the way to Odessa, and that was incredible surprise for me.

Here in Ukraine, like in many countries in Eastern Europe, there is a huge number of talented software developers. But if we want to make the next step, from just creating software, to start our own companies, and conquering the world, we need a few elements.

One of those can be financing for startups, another one can be mentoring and help for startups, but important component is having community, that has opportunities to come together, to discuss, to learn and to actually grow.

So events like this doing huge push forward, and all community can get a lot of knowledge, but also connections to other countries.

  • Aleksander Tõnnisson
Co-founder & CEO at Buildit accelerator

Ukraine and Odessa in particular is a developing startup market with huge talent pool and ambitious founders willing to go all in. You see young and dedicated people ready to launch even if there’s no funding. Black Sea Summit is definitely a good place to meet those founders – I had an amazing time with creative people in an easy-going atmosphere.

    Mike Reiner
Venture Capital Amazon AWS, Co-founder at Startup AddVenture and Startup Wise Guys

It was quite unexpectedly to see how the startup community is developed in Odessa. Really! You know everything about startups in Poland, but you never know that there are so many cool people in Ukraine! I will definitely recommend Black Sea Summit to discover the new possibilities and cooperations!
